Great running themed movie

Saw this movie yesterday on HBO. Great story. It revolves around a coach and a gifted female runner in South Africa as he tries to get her ready to win the Comrades Marathon

That "running themed movie", The Long Run was possibly one of the weakest movies I have ever seen. The plot was pathetic and the acting weak. Parts of it were filmed during the running of the 1999 Comrades Marathon and the editing is so poor that the acted parts and the genuine parts dont even make any effort at continuity.

The movie itself is based so little on reality that it is laughable. And the rubbish sprouted by Armin Mueller Stahl ("Barry")about never managing to get up Cowies Hill is plain nonsense.

Warren, thank you for the comment.

I titled the post " great running themed movie", I take this movie in the same context as "American Flyers" to cycling. It uses teh sport to wrap a story around it.

I did enjoy the movie, I am sorry you didn't.

I sometimes also spend a lot of time analyzing the movie, but with this one, I was more taken by the story of redemption. And it is a movie after all, so it doesn't technically have to be based on reality.
